Start creating your Kindle book covers by running a simple Photoshop action script. This has been a specialized request, so I am offering this as a free test kit. The Actions are designed for Kindle Books but they can be used for anything.
I was first asked to make a Kindle script about 6 months ago. My first reaction was “If Kindle covers are displayed flat on Amazon, what would an Action be for?” Then it hit me — users just want a script that creates a quick template with the optimal dimensions 1563 X 2500.
While I was trying to avoid making a “New Document Shortcut Script” I added a little more to it. Here’s the result.
This is a two step action. Step 1 creates a template with a size that goes beyond the covers edge and includes a safety guide for important elements like text. KIN1 is great for pro users who like a little breathing room when creating designs.
Running Step 2, this will merge and crop the cover into a new document making it ready to be published.

Using KIN2— Updated
After the great feedback received, KIN2 has now been updated. The main difference is the whiter page color. The optional Page Curl is still available. Thanks to everyone for your input!
KIN2 will take your 1563 X 2500 cover and transform it into a 3D tangible-looking book cover. This Action behaves the same as most scripts from CAP so it might be very familiar. Step 1 creates a template, Step 2 renders the 3D effect.
Note: The 3D-looking cover is designed for web promotions and ads. It’s not ideal for an e-reader. For this you would use a flat cover. KIN1 would be a better option.
As a bonus, KIN2 makes an optional page curl effect.

I choose the cover dimensions 1563 X 2500 because this size is recommended by Amazon for optimal quality, and I agree; It’s best to start with the highest resolution possible, then size down from there.
When it’s all said and done, here is the final result.
If the the Actions above do not meet your needs or you have a suggestion, please leave me a comment and give me your thoughts. If other sizes are in demand, please let me know.
