CoverAction Pro 2.0 in Production
Here’s our shiny new blog for CoverAction Pro 2.0. I’ll be posting updates here, until the launch day of CAP 2.0.
I’ve been planning CAP2 for just a little over a year now and we have already started designing the product as of late February 2008. I think you will be very impressed with the unsurpassed quality CAP2 will bring to Internet Marketers and Web Designers everywhere. CoverAction Pro 2.0 will take advantage of Adobe Photoshops latest technology in layers and transforming objects. The result is high definition photo-realistic presentation graphics that make your products look their very best. We are planning CAP 2.0 to be released on a DVD and there will be over 100 Actions in the set. The included 100 page full color book will make it simple to pick out the right cover for your product or service at a glance. The book will not be a created with a cheap plastic binder, but instead a professional “Perfect Binding” method will be used, the spines are glued and form a squared-off look just like a book you would find at the bookstore.
Soon it will become even more effortless to make great looking presentation graphics for your products and services … but like everything, good things come to those who wait.

The samples look great and I’m looking forward to the new capabilities.
I would like to pass along some ideas that address some of the frustrations I have with the current cover actions. The actions do a great job, but I have found them to be not quite flexible enough for some of my situations.
I am often trying to match a look online to what the content would look like in a real physical book. Sometimes that is because I have a product that is available in the physical world and the quality of a generated representation is better than taking a photo of the actual product. And sometimes it’s only an e-book but I want it to represent the heft of the actual content. For example, I wouldn’t use the thick hardcover book image to represent an e-book that’s really only pamphlet length.
Here are some examples:
1. You have a standing spiral book. I have some books that I actually sell as physical spiral books. Some of them are quite thick but some of them are rather thin. There is currently no way to match that look and accurately represent the amount of content provided.
2. You also have a standing hardcover and paperback book. So I’ve designed product Web pages that fit the standing book format. But then I need to do an image of a thin, perfect-bound paperback book. The only choice is to use the ezine format or the image will misrepresent the content by looking too thick. But that doesn’t fit in my page template because the laying down style is so much wider.
3. I needed to represent some video content for a client so I used the DVD case action. The client didn’t like the case being open but there was no other option.
4. I’ve combined a few of images together and found that some of the shadows are at different angles. For example, the spiral book and the DVD case.
So, if I could have the ideal actions, they would:
1. Allow changing the thickness of each book, or at least have enough varieties of thicknesses within each book type to accurately represent different lengths of content.
2. Have variations of each product type to be standing or laying down.
3. Have variations on the CD and DVD cases to be either open or closed, upright or laying down.

I use your ecover actions to create packshots for all my infoproducts (without exception). I also used it for the shot of my book on http://www.UltimateWebStrategy.com — in fact I used your book action instead of taking a photo of the real thing (paperback book) simply because of the exceptional quality.

Everything looks great, as ever. Keep it real. Reflections and 3D are great but organic is best. The open book graphic is easily the best demo here. Stuff that people could touch - now we’re talking. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Discount for existing customers ;-)

I have not used any cover actions myself in the past so have no idea if they are only set for 72dpi rather than much higher for printing offline literature etc.

PS Is it going to be compatible with Photoshop 7.0? Currently, I haven’t upgraded to CS yet?
Your work is excellent. I would however like some more ’serious’ templates. Many are too jaunty and ‘fun’ for my serious-toned product. The DVD case from CAP 1 for instance - I would prefer it more square and upstanding. There is an air of cheapness about much Internet marketing and I need any graphics I use to be a million miles from that.
Aaaaaw … when you said “I have an announcement”, I thought you were getting engaged or married…
However, CAP2 looks as exciting as either of those joyous events.
More power to you, Mark. I look forward to buying CAP2 and hope you’re going to give existing customers a sizable loyalty discount.
