Beware of CoverAction Pro COPYCATS

Occasionally, someone will send me a link to an eCover product that looks just like CoverAction Pro. This happens all the time so I thought I would make a post about it. These other Action Script products have the same high resolution claims, same covers (with diffrent angles ofcourse) and a price so low… it’s cheaper then a cup of coffee.
The CoverAction Pro domain name is sent through Google Alert. On any given day I willl usally recive a couple Google Alerts stating a link to www.coveractionpro.com has been posted. What I find is a post on a graphics forum reffering to my site as an example for a new ecover product.
It goes something like this:
“Hello, I’m looking for someone to make me some Photoshop Actions that are the same quality as the ones on this website: http://www.coveractionpro.com . They need to be the same quality but a little diffrent”
Then about a month later someone highers a designer to make a cool looking site, the Actions scripts are finshed and a new product is born. Gosh, I wish it was that easy. Actually the logos look just like CoverAction Pro typicly ALWAYS, and the blogs are already looking like CAP2. The samples are aways layed out with diffrent colors just like my samples here and 300dpi is printed all over the site. They usually don’t care about you, they don’t really care what you think, they almost want to just make a quick easy buck.
Here’s the mind set…
“If I create a product just like CAP then I can be just as successful”.
“I’ll show that Mark guy, This new product will blow his way”
Create somthing you are passionate about and do somthing you are GOOD at. That will create the longevity and reliability for your business. If you are constantly creating products to make a quick easy buck, that is all you are going to get. I know because I have made the mistake too and have had miserable embarrassing failures on the internet after doing this for 10 years.
Please keep this information in mind before buying one of these “thrown together” Action sets or any internet product for that matter:
- Who is this person behind the product?
- Are they a Warror at the Warrior forum?
- Are they trying to hide?
- Do they know your needs and business?
- Did they ask what your needs are BEFORE they create the product?
- Did they TEST on different computers and software?
- Does it work with other languages?
- Are you getting a hard copy in the mail?
- Who is the company behind the product?
- Is there a FULL SIZE screenshot of the product?… or are they trying to hide something.
- Does it look like a copy of another product?
- Do they have testimonials from real people?
- Is the price too good to be true?
- If there is something wrong with the product, will it be fixed?
- Do you know anyone that uses the product?
- Will you get answers, or will you be ignored?
- Are they providing clear instructions and video tutorials for you to follow?
If this information is not clear when you buy a product then please take extra precaution when you buy.
